Dolores Evelyn Kirby, age 76, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on February 5, 2024, at Cox Medical Center South. She was born to Nathaniel Eugene Stokes and Lucille Evelyn (Smith) Stokes on May 23, 1947, in Williamstown, Missouri. Dolores was raised in Bowling Green, Missouri, and graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1965. She was united in marriage to Glen Johnson in 1965 at Mount Zion Church. The couple was blessed with one child, Lisa Christine Johnson. Dolores was later united in marriage to Clifford Kirby and remained so until his death in 2016.
Dolores was a seamstress here entire life. Doing alterations and making clothes brought her a great deal of satisfaction and joy. When not working, she enjoyed dining out and playing cards with her friends. She also enjoyed painting and some crafts. Delores was also a child of God who spent her entire life faithfully serving her Lord and church.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Lucille Stokes; husband, Clifford Kirby; daughter, Lisa Johnson; and brother, Mark Stokes. She is survived by her brother, Lyle Stokes and his family; two granddaughters, Melissa and Kelsey; and a host of friends, especially from her church.
Delores Evelyn Kirby will be laid to rest next to her husband, Clifford, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. There are no services scheduled at this time.
