Donald Morris Vacca passed away in his home in Mt. Vernon, Mo., on January 19, 2019 surrounded by his wonderful caregivers at the age of 73. He was born August 7, 1945, in Nevada, Mo. to Hobart M. and Alvina (Kuenning) Vacca of Lamar, Mo.
Donald was not like most children. He could not speak, or care for himself, but he was blessed by loving family and friends. He loved being outdoors, swinging, playing catch with his ball and riding in the boat on the lake. In later years, he was touched by many wonderful caregivers and friends from the ARC of Monett as well as Hospice Compassus of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, along with a niece Charlotte (Wood) Johnson.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Jerry Wood, of Mt. Vernon, Mo. a niece Cheryl Sisco and her husband Charley, great nephews: Josh Sisco and wife Ashley, Jeremy Sisco and wife Abby and Zach Johnson and wife Bethany, along with aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
Donald was a member of First United Methodist Church, of Mt. Vernon, Mo. He may not have lived what many would have called a normal life, but he lived a happy and full life. Donald walked straight into Heaven's gate to be welcomed home by God.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will follow, in Goss Cemetery, nears Phelps, Mo. No visitation is planned.
