Dad you mean so much to me, In so many ways Our frequent conversations, “how was your day today?” the skills you’ve shown me, through kindness and patience We’re both stong-willed red-faced and irreverent Through it all you’ve had my back While I still have far to grow, I understand what you’ve tried to show To plant the seed of a way to be Not to become you, but become me In thought and action word or deed embody your values adapt, succeed I never said the words aloud Of you Dad, I am so proud On we each travel through different spheres Memories lead me along the way till we met again one day.

Jan, Donald and Helen, we send our sincere sympathy for your loss. Don's passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew and love him. My mom, Dorothy Burchett Hopkins had such a soft spot in her heart for her cousin, Don. He was instrumental in helping mom with their common hobby, geneology, and posting their files online and in the Polk County Genealogical Society in Bolivar. And Don and Jan's 4th of July parties were anxiously anticipated every year for decades, and that's how Mom introduced me to Don and his family. Great memories. Don will be missed.
