Doris Jean Landrum, 91, of Joplin, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Communities of Wildwood Senior Living. Jean was born June 14, 1930, at Campbell, Missouri, to Elijah and Lucretia (Hicks) Smith. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Springfield, MO.
Jean graduated from Campbell High School in 1947 and married the love of her life, George William Landrum, in July, 1947. Jean furthered her education at Arkansas State University where she graduated with a BS in Elementary Education and an MS in Remedial Reading and Math Education. She was a beloved teacher for 30 years. She retired from the public education system in 1994.
Jean is survived by two children, Georgia (and the late Tony) Ladd, St. Genevieve, and R. Keith (Ann) Landrum, Neosho; six grandchildren, Jeff Ladd, St. Louis, Becky (Claude) Rathburn, Winona, Zack (Kayla) Bryan, Monett, Cody Bryan, Oronogo, Dustin Landrum, Webb City, and Haley Landrum, Pittsburg, KS. Great-grandchildren include Chelsea Braswell, Kiersten Ladd, Brittany Ladd, Caitlin Ladd, Jacob Rathburn and Cassy Rathburn; and five great-great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Lucas and Madison Braswell, Cooper Ladd, and James Naeger, Jr.; and a host of friends.
Burial will take place in the Springfield Missouri Veterans’ Cemetery, on Friday, August 27, 2021.
