It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Jean Weaver (nee Johnson),
a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Jean, age 91, peacefully entered heaven on January 16, 2026 in Springfield Missouri. Born on April 13, 1934 in Ash Grove, Missouri, she dedicated her life to her family and faith. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Edith Johnson, her father, William Luther Johnson, and her two brothers Troy (wife, Hazel) and Ernest (wife, Mildred). She was survived by her husband, Jim, married for 73 years, her daughter, Barbara Bartels, her husband, Dave, and her granddaughter, Jennifer. She was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was a member of the Kirkwood Garden Club. She loved music and played piano and sang in the church choir. She was an outstanding cook— making three clover dinner rolls, spaghetti, and fried chicken. She loved animals, dogs, cats, and birds. She canned food from their garden and tended to beautiful flowers. She was a prayer warrior and read her Bible daily. She was a great neighbor and friend. We thank the caregivers at the Maples and the staff at the Phoenix, especially Chaplin Mike. She’ll be deeply missed and remembered for her kind and giving spirit.
