Dorothy “Dot” Mae Greenfield, age 87, of Willard, Missouri, a devoted, mother and grandmother, graced this world with her presence till her passing on October 8, 2024.
She was born on May 20, 1937, in Salem, Arkansas to Lehman A. and Edith Myrtle (Copeland) Elliott. Dot joined her brother, Monroe, then welcomed her sisters, Louise and Marian. Dot embarked on a life journey filled with love, laughter, and boundless accomplishments.
Dot shone brightly from her earliest days. Her journey through Cushman High School was a testament to her brilliance, culminating in the honor of being named Valedictorian. Though her pursuit of higher education took a different path, her wisdom and intelligence knew no bounds.
Dot shared her life with her beloved George Greenfield on October 22, 1955, and together they welcomed four precious daughters into their loving embrace: Brenda, Vicki, Tina, and Donna. Dot’s heart overflowed with tenderness and care as she nurtured her family with an abundance of love.
Dot’s professional endeavors found her paving a new path as the first female meter reader for City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri in April 1974. For 17 years, she dedicated herself to this role, embodying perseverance and commitment in all her pursuits. A masterful seamstress, Dot weaved threads of love into stunning garments for her cherished family, while her talent as a published writer left an indelible mark on those who read her works.
With her unwavering faith as a foundational pillar, Dot found solace and community at Cherry Street Baptist Church, where her heart found peace in the embrace of her faith family. Above all her passions were God, family, and country.
She was greeted into heaven by her parents, her brother Monroe Elliott, and her daughter Vicki Batye.
Dorothy leaves behind three daughters and their spouses, Brenda and Chuck Urvan, Tina and Bill Wester, and Donna and Mark Lawrence; their father, George Greenfield; seven grandchildren Brian Urvan (Ronda), Lindsey Davis, Nicholas Urvan (Hannah), Michelle Canfield (Sam), Melodie Sweet (Taylor), Caleb Lawrence, and Cassidy Lawrence; her two sisters, Louise Clark and Marian Blough (Barney); numerous other family members and friends.
While Dorothy’s physical presence may dim, her spirit will forever illuminate the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we honor her memory and celebrate a life well-lived, let us gather together on October 11, 2024, at Cherry Street Baptist Church to bid our fond farewells in a service that reflects the beautifully lived journey of Dot’s life. A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm with a funeral service to follow. The burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens will serve as a final tribute to a remarkable woman whose light will forever shine in our hearts.
In the tapestry of life, Dorothy Mae Greenfield’s thread was woven with grace, compassion, and unwavering love – a legacy that will transcend time and space, forever remembered in the cherished memories of all who had the privilege to know her.
The family suggests donations be made in memory of Dot be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Alzheimer’s Association.

At Cushman School I first met Dorothy Elliott. She was probably a senior and I was in grade school. She invited me to go home with her where I met the Elliotts. Later She married my Uncle George Greenfield and became my Aunt Dorothy Greenfield. What a blessing. We were forever tied at the hip. She always made me feel special. But I bet she made a lot of people feel special. I have always loved her dearly. Nancy Greenfield Wren.

I loved aunt Dorothy.. She was always so friendly and loving when she came to the Eugene Greenfield family reunion ever August and she was always so friendly and loving at Cushman alumni banquet.
Actually uncle George and aunt Dorothy were friendly and loving anytime you met them anywhere.
I’m so sorry I can’t come to the funeral but my health will not permit.
