Ed Mitchell, 81, of Fair Play, Missouri, passed away at home with his family by his side, on November 13, 2024. Ed was born on June 5, 1943, in Springfield, Missouri to Ms. Classie (Coats) Gilliam. Ed graduated from Morrisville High School in 1961. Ed married Margie Legion on April 26, 1968, in Seymour, Missouri.

Ed was a truck driver at the time of his retirement, and he spent most of his free time lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He did not know a stranger and he loved to talk. Ed enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. Ed loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, James and Classie Gilliam, his wife, Margie Mitchell, and his daughter, Tammy Burks.

He is survived by his daughter, Lee Ann Myers, and her husband, Kelley; his grandchildren: Jake Myers and Erica Vincent; great-grandchildren, Landon and Mia; sister, Barbara Mincks; brothers: Jimmy Gilliam and Tom Mitchell, and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation for Ed will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, Missouri. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Robberson Prairie Cemetery in Greene County, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation in honor of Ed.
