Eldon Lee Young, age 91, passed away on February 27th of 2017 after a prolonged illness. He lived in Strafford, Missouri with his wife Peggy. He was born on February First of 1926 in Boone County Arkansas. He was the youngest of six children that were born to Dossie Lee and Anna May Young. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy, his two daughters, Brenda Scrivener and her husband Wayne, Sandra Baron and her husband Marty, his four grandsons, Jeramy Caudill and his wife Michelle, Grant Terry, Christopher Terry, and Bryan Scrivener, one great-grandson, J. M. Caudill, and several nephews and nieces.

Eldon retired after working as an Electrical Lineman with City Utilities of Springfield. He was an avid quail hunter, bowler, and loved dancing with Peggy to country western music. He also enjoyed playing his guitar at the Strafford Senior Citizens Center, and once wrote and recorded a song for Peggy to commemorate their fiftieth wedding anniversary called “Life is Just a Memory.”

Graveside services will be held on March 3rd, 2017 at MO Veteran’s Cemetery under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North, and will be officiated by Dan Cone.

Eldon’s family wants to express their gratitude to Hospice Compassus for all of their care which allowed him to stay in his home with his wife and family caring for him. Without their support, it would not have been possible for him to remain at home. We also want to extend our gratitude to Dr. Zubair and his staff for their care and support.
