Eldon Mardell Looney, 90, passed away on March 15, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. Born on November 7, 1934, in Halfway, Missouri, he lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and love for his family.
Eldon graduated from Bois D’Arc High School before embarking on a successful career as a respected paper salesman. His professionalism and commitment earned him admiration among colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his career, he proudly served his country as a Private First Class in the United States Army.
A man of discipline and warmth, Eldon was known for his compassion, punctuality, and unwavering support for those around him. He found joy in maintaining his yard and landscaping, ensuring every detail was just right. He also loved fishing and took great pride in keeping his truck spotless. Above all else, he cherished time spent with family.
Eldon is survived by his brother Bob Looney; sisters Eunice Franklin of Arkansas City, Kansas; and Shirley Vaughan of Springfield, Missouri. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Megan Hicks (Jordan) and Garrett Young (Stormy), Great-grandchildren, along with serval nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Orva and Sylvia Looney, his brother Jimmie Dale Looney, and his nephew Gregory Scotty Looney.
A funeral service will be held on March 20, 2025, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, located at 441 W Battlefield Rd., Springfield, Missouri beginning at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO 65804.
Eldon’s legacy of kindness and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
