Eleanor Jane (Lenny) Moore, 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born December 24, 1931 in Albion, Michigan to Earl Connor and Ruth Rhodes Connor, and was the third of the five Connor daughters. Lenny graduated from Albion High School and went on to nearby Spring Arbor College. Lenny met the love of her life, James (Bill) Moore, and the couple was married in 1954. They settled in southeast Michigan, and had four children. They were active in the Free Methodist Church, where Lenny was church organist. She had a lifelong love of music and travel, and she had a quick wit and gentle demeanor. She also enjoyed a successful career as a bookkeeper. After raising their family, the couple retired to Springfield, Missouri, where they were active in the Second Baptist Church. Lenny had a heart for young people. She was an active supporter of the Bridges for Youth after school program, and Pathways to Life, a program for single mothers and their babies.
Lenny was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Lolly Thomas and Marti Okley. She will be lovingly missed by her dear husband of sixty-nine years, children Cathy Razook, Jeff (Lora) Moore, Kristen (Don) Galloway, and Greg Moore, sisters Dotty (Bob) Smith and Katy (Stan) Chwatun, grandchildren Kevin Razook, Matthew Razook, Anna (Chris) Soals, Dustine Moore, Elizabeth Galloway, Mitchell (Alyssa) Galloway, Lindsay (Brandon) Bean, and Lauren Galloway, as well as three great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She had a strong unwavering faith and a confidence of eternal life in heaven. She loved her family deeply and unconditionally, and she will be missed for her wise counsel and godly example of a loving wife and mother.
A celebration of Elanor’s life will be held at Second Baptist Church on Saturday, August 19 at 11:00 am.
