Elva E. Latimer went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2009. She was born in Marshfield, Missouri on September 3, 1921 and lived in Springfield, Mo., most of her life. She was married for 38 years to Roy Latimer, Jr. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mamie Biggers and siblings, Bertha Dilthey, Frances Goddard, Fern Trantham, Earl Biggers, and Everett Biggers. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Guise and Phyllis Walls; one brother, Marion Biggers; and one sister, Goldie Schupbach; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was an active member of High Street Baptist Church for 57 years and loved visiting hospitals and shut-ins. She worked for a short while as a mailroom clerk for Gospel Publishing House and as a floral designer for Schaffitzel’s Greenhouse for 25 years. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and many friends. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, with funeral services held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, both at Greenlawn North Funeral Home.
