On October 15, 2017, Emma Oleta Campanelli passed away peacefully in her home. She was born in Sikes Louisiana, on Nov. 6, 1925, the 5th of ten children.
After graduating stenography school, she and her cousin Ruth went to Washington D.C., during WWII to work for the FBI. This is where she met her future husband, Peter Campaneli, who was in the Army.
They married after the war, and lived in Connecticut, before moving to Springfield, MO., in 1959.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alson and Emiline Willis, her husband Peter, in 1987, and several of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by 2 of her sisters and a brother, her sons: Thomas (Margo), Richard, and Paul (Vicky), four grandchildren; Gabby, Alexandra, Matt and Anthony Campanelli and one great grandchild, Amalia Campanelli-Ball.
Visitation will be held October 26, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Graveside service will be Oct. 27, 2017 at 2 pm at Springfield National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to Hospice Compassus 1465 E Primrose St, Springfield, MO 65804.
