Mrs. Erma Payne, age 91 of Humansville, MO, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility Bolivar, MO. She was born May 4, 1925, in Violet, MO, to Walter Sidney and Edith Ressie (Skinner) Manes. She was united in marriage to Roy Payne July 23, 1942, and to this union three children were born. She is a member of the Mt. Etna Southern Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years Roy Payne; a son James Payne; Six sisters: Gladys Manes, Dorothy Manes, Lela Barber, Geneva Kladt, Opal Hamby, and Edith Price; and two brothers: Homer and Bobby Manes.
She is survived by two children: Linda Proffitt and husband Mike of Humansville, MO, and Billy Payne and wife Barbara of Springfield, MO; nine grandchildren: Kim, Cindy, James Jr., Stacey, Tammy, Shannon, Shelly, Erin, and Heather; five step-grandchildren: Jimmie, Pam, Mark, Debbie, Sandy; numerous great and great great grandchildren; a brother Gene Manes and his wife Beverly of Bolivar, MO; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Pitts Chapel with Rev. Mike Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow at Payne Cemetery Polk, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO.
