Gene Henderson, 83, of Nixa passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018. He was born May 10, 1935 to Geraldine and Fred Henderson. Gene married Sue Roberts in 1971 and they recently celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Gene loved mowing, gardening, cooking, and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals. Acts of service toward his family was his love language. The one thing Gene did best was love his family and friends. Every morning, for over 40 years, you would find Gene having green tea with his best buddies at the Nixa Sale Barn (NLA). His afternoons were spent with his other buddies out at “the corner” (Casey’s General Store). He treasured these times.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law. He is survived by his wife Sue; his brother Jack (Mary); his sister Judi; children Don (Ray), Russ (Hilari), Angie (Paul), Erin (Jody), John (Kerry Lee); grandchildren Zachary, Madison, Olivia, Aidan, Gavin, Ozzie, Sloan; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and his wonderful friends.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nursing staff who have taken care of our dad over the past 14 months. A special thanks to Dr. Nannapaneni for never giving up on him.

Services will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 East Seminole, Springfield, MO 65809. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 3, from 6-8 pm and a funeral service will be held on Monday, June 4, at 11 am. Burial at Mount Comfort Church, 2376 E Farm Rd 66, immediately following the funeral service.
