He is preceded in death by both parents, 2 brothers; Edgar Ray Gibson and Ernest Gibson, 5 sisters; Pearl Hilburn, Anna Hilburn, Hazel Hilburn, Dorthy Candel, and Betty McCall, 1 son; Burnis Gibson Sr., 1 grandson; Timothy Wilson, along with many other relatives.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bernice “Curry” Gibson, 2 sons; Billy Brown and Ricky Gibson, 4 daughters; Sharon Tatum, Janet Peaslee, Janice Wilkins, and Terry Lindly, 3 sisters; Wanda McCall, Ellen Hutchinson, and Mildred Phillips, 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives.
Gene was a hard working family man who was loved and will be missed by so many. He had a great sense of humor. He played guitar and sang with his wife at churches. He was never afraid to joke around or pull funny pranks on anyone.
