Eva Alice (Etheridge)Batson, age 93, of Republic, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, in her home.
Eva was born October 25, 1928, in Republic, MO, she was the daughter of James Frank and Myrtle (Wade) Etheridge. She was a graduate of Republic High School, where she played Volleyball. She was united in marriage to Denzil Batson in 1951. To this union they were blessed with two children, Denny and Connie. Eva worked with Denzil as independent construction contractors for 25 years. Eva was a member of First Baptist Church of Republic. She loved to work in the garden, she was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, she was a great softball pitcher, playing up into her fifty’s. Her fondest memories were her and Denzil traveling the country to attend Denzil’s Korean War Veterans reunions.
Left to mourn her passing is her son; Denny Wayne and wife Kathie Batson, daughter; Connie Walton, grandchildren; Tonya Batson, Anthony and wife Joy Batson, and Lindy Walton, great grandchildren; Adrian James Batson, Abigail Kirchmer, C.J. Batson, Halle Batson and Molly Batson; 4 amazing four legged fur babies; Salem, Louie, Arlo and Peanut; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and countless friends. Eva will be greatly missed by all whose lives have been touched by her.
Eva was preceded in death by her loving husband, Denzil Batson; her parents, James Frank and Myrtle (Wade) Etheridge; four brothers, Everett Etheridge, Ray Etheridge, Ralph Etheridge, and Harold Etheridge; and three sisters, Cleta Faucett, Vetha Colson, and Dorothy Martin.
The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice for their loving care and support.
Eva will be interred along with Denzil at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. A celebration of Eva’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, May 12, 2022, at Cherry Street Baptist Church, 1201 S. Oak Grove, Springfield, MO 65804. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
