Evelyn Elizabeth Brown, age 96, was carried away in God’s loving arms September 25, 2009. Evelyn was born the sixth child of Joe and Mamie Burgess November 25, 1912. Evelyn graduated from Willard High School in 1930, and attended Draughn’s Business College. In 1932, she married Carl Brown, wed by the same Judge that married her mother and father in 1902. Evelyn worked for many years at Carr Shade Factory. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son Jerry; grandson Ryan Clark; five sisters; and six brothers. Evelyn leaves behind her beloved daughter, Carlene and husband, Bob Clark of Grass Valley, Calif.; her beloved daughter-in-law, Joline Brown of Liberty, Mo.; four grandsons, Jim Brown of Overland Park, Kan., David Brown and Donna of Parkville, Mo., Scott and Gladys Brown, and Steve and Teri Brown of Liberty, Mo.; three granddaughters, Robin Clark of Kings Beach, Calif., Kim Streit and husband, Ken of Truckee, Calif., and Kelly Adams and husband, Jeff of Sacramento, Calif.; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Cassie Minor and husband, Mike, Delaney Brown, Jeremy Brown, Karlee Streit, Jake Streit and Jared Adams; two great-great-grandchildren, Hailie and Blake Minor; and many nieces and nephews. Her beloved and faithful niece, Sharon Rook, was like a daughter and took care of Evelyn for years and was dearly loved. Evelyn was a strong and generous woman. She was very involved with Dale Street Methodist Church for many years. Evelyn was matriarch of the family and will always be loved and missed. Eternal gratitude from Evelyn’s family to Unit C at Woodland Manor and to Hospice Compassus, for the compassion and wonderfully loving care that Evelyn was given. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2009, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
