Fred Ray “Chip” Brasher, age 78, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on May 12, 2025. Fred was born to Joseph Morris Brasher and Margaret Elizabeth (Dixon) Brasher on October12, 1946 in Herrin, Illinois. Chip had many interesting occupations but retired from the Missouri Career Center as a shuttle driver. He loved to make people laugh and tell stories which were embellished by his memory. Papa Chip will be greatly missed by the little ones who he loved to tell stories, rhymes, and teach them songs, some of which he made up the words.
Chip is survived by his wife, Anne; son, David; daughters, Heather and Geneva; stepson, Will Brines and his wife, Chassy; six step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, 10:00 am, at Smith Cemetery, located near Rogersville, Missouri.
Arrangements are under the compassionate direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri.
