Frederick James Harris, age 55, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on February 8, 2025, at home, surrounded by his wife and 4 children. Frederick was born to Floyd Harris and Thelma “Jean” Harris on July 9, 1969 in Flint, MI. Frederick was united in marriage to Greta Harris on June 25, 1994 in Homewood, Alabama.
Fred found success in the business world as a retail/ franchise manager of several companies throughout his life. However, the one thing that stuck with him throughout his professional endeavors was his entrepreneurial drive. Not all of his ideas came to fruition, but he was most proud of his company U.S. Mints that he poured so much of his time and energy into. He built the company from the ground up and was able to see something he had imagined only in his head become a reality. The distribution of this idea was only brought to a halt due to Covid 19 but he always remained proud of the work that was put in to bring the idea to life. He was the perfect example of perseverance and never gave up on his dreams and ideas.
Although he moved many times in his life, Fred truly found his home in Mission Hills Church of Christ. No matter what else he had going on, he always made the time to invest in the well-being of his congregation. He loved to sing and his clear bass voice could be heard ringing through the building at every worship service. He was an outstanding example of showing up to worship the One True God no matter how he felt or what else he had going on in life. He dedicated much of his time to the study and preaching of God’s word. He was very conscientious and his lessons from the pulpit made an impact on so many that heard them. Outside of worship, he was a part of many singing groups throughout his time, one of which was the award winning Acapella Federation. The one thing that Fred may have loved even more than singing was making others laugh. He was successful at this until the very end and even still in memory. Although this was a large part of his personality many people were fortunate enough to experience a deeper side of him in his immense kindness, caring words of advice, and generosity. He was known for his giving spirit and for his strength in standing for the truth. His kindness, laugh, lively spirit, and wonderful example will be missed by all who knew him.
Frederick was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Harris; nephew, Brett Hanson; father-in-law, Richard Nichols.
