George Stokes age 96, of Springfield passed away Thursday, July 20th, 2017 in his home.

George was born August 14, 1920 in Marshfield, MO to Phillip and Ina Stokes. George retired from Missouri State University, he also worked at Central High School for several years. George enjoyed riding horses and traveling. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church

Survivors include his, son, Wayne Stokes; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Jessie Faught; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille; parents, Phillip and Ina Stokes; and nine brothers and sisters, Otto Stokes, Nettie Stokes, Charley Stokes, Bill Stokes, Nellie Stokes, Virgil Mackey, Ruth Scroggins, Rubby Richerson, and Lou Rowden.

The family will receive friends, Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 6pm to 8pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North . Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 24th, 2017 at 10:00 am in Greenlawn Funeral Home- North Springfield 3506 N. National Ave Springfield, Missouri 65803, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
