George R Horst, 79, of Strafford, MO, passed away on July 25, 2022. He was born on September 12, 1942, to George and Bernice Horst in Ellsworth, KS. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1961 – 1965 and in the Air Force Reserves thru 1967, before attending Long Beach State University in Long Beach, CA. George also worked for the Ford Motor Co., as a supervisor in their computer room for over 25 years. George married Bonnie (Moore), on April 3, 1993, in Morse, KS.
When not busy with his duties as husband, father, and grandfather, George indulged in his loves of NASCAR, bowling and all things 1950’s related.
George is survived by his wife of 29 years, Bonnie. He is also survived by his son Vincent and wife Michelle; stepdaughter Rhonda Gordon, and husband Jeff; and stepdaughter Debra Anderson. George is also survived by his 9 grandchildren: Chandler, Logan, Ava, Brooklyn, Scotty, Brooke, Lacey, Colleen and Max; sisters, Debra Horst, and Shirley Sossman; brother-in-law Larry Moore and wife Terry; and nephew Michael Moore and wife Stephanie; and niece Jackie Pierce.
The celebration of George’s life will be held at Greenlawn North Funeral Home on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 1:00 PM with a visitation beginning at 12:00 PM.
