Geraldine “Geri” Thaemlitz, age 91 of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 13, 2023. She was a talented musician and an amazingly loving mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her children: Carl Thaemlitz, Terre Thaemlitz, John Thaemlitz and Sara Thaemlitz. Grandchildren: Simon, Tom, Jacob, Andrew and Vincent. Sister-in-laws: Doris Peters and Rosemary Tonda. Nieces and Nephews: Eugene Tonda, Robert Tonda, Brenda (Howard) Armstrong and Thomas Tonda.
Preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Ralph Thaemlitz, brother Gene, and parents Thomas and Mary and her niece, Rosemary Charles.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Friday, April 21st at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 N. National Ave., Springfield, MO 65803. Funeral Service 11:00am, Saturday, April 22nd at Sacred Heart Church, 1609 N. Summit Ave., Springfield, MO 65803. Interment will be private.
Geri lived a full life dedicated to her faith, family and life-long friends. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Geri had a strong passion for music. A child prodigy on accordion, she also played guitar, organ, Appalachian mountain dulcimer and the hammered dulcimer. She loved to perform publicly and volunteered regularly at St. John’s Hospital, where she touched many lives with her gift of music.
