Gertrude Louise Wilkins, 97, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 following a brief illness. Gertrude was born November 1, 1914 in Springfield, MO to the late James Edward and Emma C. (Steury) McCommas. Gertrude Louise Wilkins, 97, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 following a brief illness. Gertrude was born November 1, 1914 in Springfield, MO to the late James Edward and Emma C. (Steury) McCommas. She was the granddaughter of Rudolph and Emma Fassnight Steury.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cleo N. Wilkins, in December 1964 and by her sister, Elizabeth Seitz and brother, William H. McCommas. She is survived by a nephew, Kenneth Hughes and wife Julie, Sutter, CA; three great nephews Darrell Hughes, Springfield, Kenneth Russell and Kevin Hughes, CA; and several great-great nieces, nephews and cousins. Gertrude was a homemaker and a member of South Street Christian Church.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in National Cemetery with Rev. Carl Radford officiating . Visitation will be Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
