Glenda Shows Morris, of Springfield, Missouri, went to be with Jesus and experience the wonders of Heaven on January 29, 2026. She lived a life marked by worship, creativity, and faithful service, using her gifts to glorify God and to encourage others wherever she served.
Glenda was born March 19, 1943, in Springhill, Louisiana, to Johnnie and Violet (McCarty) Shows. She grew up in Natchez, Mississippi, and graduated from Natchez High School in 1961.
Glenda attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. It was there she met her future husband, Hubert Morris, of North Carolina, when they both auditioned for and became members of the Evangel Concert Choir. During her college years, she also traveled representing Evangel as part of the Mela-Tones Trio, participating in summer concert tours throughout every state west of the Mississippi River.
Glenda and Hubert’s first ministry assignment was serving as Youth Ministers at Central Assembly in Springfield, Missouri, while Glenda worked for the manager of the Assemblies of God Gospel Publishing House. Their final full-time ministry assignment brought them back to Central Assembly from 2004–2010, where they served in Pastoral Care and Senior Adults Ministry. During this time, Glenda devoted herself to help with directing the Senior Adults Choir.
Beginning in 1966, Glenda served as Music Minister at their first pastorate in Edenton, North Carolina, a role she joyfully continued in four additional pastorates in Charlotte, North Carolina; Rochester, New York; Kimberling City, Missouri; and Monroe, Louisiana. While in Charlotte (1970–1975), she sang and played piano for two long-play record albums and helped produce a 30-minute film titled The King Is Coming. During their years in Rochester (1975–1980), she directed a one-hour television music production, Living Witnesses.
Glenda and Hubert were blessed with three daughters: Angela, Deanna, and Sabrina. From an early age, Glenda nurtured and developed their musical gifts. While in high school, all three daughters were directed by their mother in two vocal ensembles that won the national Award of Merit at the Assemblies of God Fine Arts Festival. Glenda is also fondly remembered for coordinating all three daughters’ high school Project Graduation events.
During the 1990s, while Hubert served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Evangel University, Glenda served three years as National President of the Evangel Ladies Auxiliary. She also continued her love for children’s ministry by directing children’s musicals at Central Assembly.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Sandra Shows and Wanda Ezell, and Wanda’s husband, Hal; and her brother-in-law, Jim Argue.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Hubert; her daughter Angela and Dale Donadio, and their children — Gabrielle and fiancé’ Aidan, and Christian; her daughter Deanna and Kevin Ragsdale, and their children — Brianna and John Leonard and great-granddaughter Harper; Adam and Marin Ragsdale; Savanna and Jordan Warner; and Bella; and her daughter Sabrina Gurney and her children — Xan, Fisher, Addie, and Maggie. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Argue, of Springfield, her brother, John Shows and his wife Roslyn, also of Springfield, and their families.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Central Assembly, 1301 N. Boonville Avenue, Springfield, Missouri, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, followed by a reception. The family will have a private interment at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfield.
