Gloria Helen Kilmer, age 89, of Rogersville, MO passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, in her home after a battle with cancer. She was born September 18th, 1935 at home in Bruner, MO to Samuel and Maggie Holt. She was the fourth child of 8 children, 2 girls and 6 boys. She accepted The Lord Jesus as her Savior at an early age and in her later years attended Harmony Baptist Church in Rogersville.
Gloria graduated from Chadwick, MO High School, where she was voted ‘Most Likely to Move to Hollywood and Become a Hollywood Starlet.’ She was the mother of 5 children, including a set of twins. In 1981, Gloria met David Frank Kilmer at a “Wild Game” dinner party in Springfield. They were married in Miami, OK in 1982 and had a blended family of 10 children in total. Gloria loved to garage sale, spend time with her grandchildren, and was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She was known by all as a selfless, kind, and patient woman who was devoted to her family. Over the years, she was employed by Fasco, Oxford Health Care, and in 1995, retired from General Electric of Springfield.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, David Kilmer; sons Samuel Thomas, Ronald Thomas, Brett Thomas, daughter Sandra Hodges; stepchildren Dusty Kilmer, Sindy Downs, Suzanne Stockton, Julie Denbo, Joy Lombard; 22 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister, and son Donald Thomas. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home East at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30th, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East at 3540 E. Seminole in Springfield, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Old Boston Cemetery in Oldfield.
