It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Christian, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, who left us on February 14, 2025, at the age of 93. Gloria was born on September 15, 1931, to Vincent Brown and Doris Ford. Gloria immigrated to the US from Jamacia to Brooklyn and settled in Springfield to be with family after retiring to be closer to family, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and unwavering spirit.
She is survived by her three children, Colleen Y. Ortiz, Trevor Carl Pennant and Angela Morris, as well as her beloved brother, Charles Baxter, Josclyn McKenzie, and her sisters: Ruby Bryan, and Dorothy Clarke, as well as nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria’s legacy of love and compassion will continue to resonate in the lives of all those she cherished.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. before the celebration of life. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather and share memories that reflect the warmth and joy she brought into their lives, where family and friends can come together to honor her memory.
In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the love and support of those around us. Gloria’s spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us with her wisdom and love.
