Herman Ben Jürgens passed quietly in the morning of July 26, 2014 with his loving wife of 69 years, Delores R. Jürgens at his side in their home in Branson, MO. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Lynn, mother, Annette, father, Ben Chris, two sisters, and twelve half-brothers and sisters.
Herman was born June 2, 1923 in Sidney Nebraska to Annette and Ben Jürgens, both of whom were born in Northern Germany in the lands known as Friesland.
Herman, being a true son of Friesland, spent the majority of his life, successfully farming the harsh lands of Sidney. In 1984, Herman, his wife, granddaughters, Julie and Jenelle; and his youngest son, Jerry Ben; retired to Springfield, MO. But being the true son of Friesland, he couldn’t give up farming so, in 1987, he bought a ranch in Buffalo MO. where he spent the next 14 years of his life doing what he loved, which was farming!
In 2001, along with his wife, Delores, Herman retired to Branson, MO., where he resided until his death on July 26th.
Herman leaves behind his wife, Delores, youngest son, Jerry Ben Jürgens and his wife, Penny, oldest son, Richard D. Jürgens and his wife, Patricia, granddaughter, Julie L. Williams and her husband, Joe, and a brother, Jürgen Ben (Jerry).
Herman was also blessed in life as in death, with a very large, extended family of many grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. All of whom loved and will miss their family’s patriarch.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in Branson. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home Branson.
