Hobert Ray Hale, age 78, of Springfield, MO, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at his home after a long illness.
He married Winonia Marie Graves on October 21, 1961 in Marshfield, MO. Hobert and Marie were married 55 years and 2 months before his death. From their marriage they had a daughter, Michele. Hobert attended Bois D’Arc, MO highschool and graduated in 1956. He was active in playing baseball and basketball while in high school. After graduating from Bois D’Arc high school he was scouted by the New York Yankees. After high school he joined the US Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War on the ammunition ship the USS Mauna Kea. Hobert earned his black belt in Taekwondo and was very active in his daughter Michele’s fast pitch softball. He was a huge sports fan, with his favorite teams being the St Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Hobert had many different jobs over the years. After being oon the road so long with Trailways, he was happy to go to work at Bass Pro where he worked for 17 years as a security officer. He retired from Bass Pro for medical reasons. His greatest pleasure was having his grandchildren and family at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Grace Hale, brother Donald Hale and a daughter Lynn Renee Townsend. He is survived by his wife Marie, daughter Michele Tuter and her husband Ricky, grandchildren: Shania Tuter, Kyle Tuter, David Townsend and Michael Townsend and his wife Asia and their sons Oliver and Braxton.
Graveside service will be Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery at 11:00 am, with full Military Honors.
