Her family was her world and her greatest joy was taking care of them. She had a servants heart and enjoyed meeting the needs around her. She was known as “Mom Iris” to everyone and famous for her pies, cookies, and cobblers. Her door was always open and you never left hungry or empty-handed.
Her family could always call on her to pray. If you were visiting when someone called with a prayer request she let you know it was time to pause, get on your knees, and go to prayer. Mom Iris was a prayer warrior.
Many hours were spent with her family around her kitchen table laughing, playing games , and sharing delicious meals. She also enjoyed gathering at her piano where she would play her favorite songs and hymns.
Her days always began in the word of God; the Bible was her firm foundation. She taught her family many things, but most importantly she taught them to serve, to love, and to hope in Jesus Christ.
