Izekiel David DeVenney, age 7, passed away on February 11, 2026, at 11:39 pm, at his home. Izekiel was born to Corey Mathew DeVenney and Karen Marie Booth on November 21, 2018, in Springfield, Missouri, and was raised in Nixa, Missouri.
Zeek had several interests and kept it interesting whenever seeking attention by creating a little bit of trouble. All my kids are musically inclined, but Bacon had a special connection to worship with his mother that I saw not only at church, but at home and even car rides in between. I remembered he loved being outside no matter what the weather was, he would have stayed in the rain and played until we brought him inside. Snow was the same and even when he couldn’t get him to it, I brought a tub to him in the house which ended up being a lot of water to clean up. If it was only windy or sunny then it was worse. Sometimes he would be out the door before we even gave him permission.
He loved camping and hiking with mom where he would collect sticks in a pile or get rocks just to throw in the water or even just the air. Bacon loved swimming and even just taking a bath. As it got scarier for us, we never saw this kid have fear. Although he never told me, I think he was an adrenaline junkie because he never stopped moving fast and would even enjoy getting dizzy. Bacon was definitely not scared of fireworks all the way through being one of the first to grab whatever we were shooting off. Even as a child, his physical strength would never cease to amaze me. Even at two years old, we watched him pull Izaac up a hill in a wagon or even spinning himself upside down for long periods of time on his gymnastics pole.
Bacon’s drive was impeccable unless were talking about the power wheel, which was not too bad, but wouldn’t let off the gas until the battery died. This only leads me to his love for tractors. From little toys he played with on a regular basis or “The Big One” he got to steer in the middle of the field on the farm, but hardly held a light to his love for the lawn mower, even when he no longer could ride them with me I would still see a smile whenever papa would be mowing by the window.
Zeek was usually the first to want to go anywhere and it didn’t matter where you were going, how long you would be gone, or even how long you would be in the car. Honestly, I think he just loved to ride. Even as an infant, his sense of understanding was beyond anything we had ever seen: talking just weeks old, falling asleep in my arms, but then asked him if he was sleeping with his eyes closed, still smiled as if messing with me and his intellect only grew from there. He loved being around his big brothers, even when it wasn’t the other way around. Funny how if he wasn’t the one creating some trouble, which I secretly think he kind of liked, the attention, then he was probably the fall guy for his brothers. Amidst the madness, he still saw even a new light in him when he became the big brother and the joy he had just holding him. Even as he got older, he seized the opportunity for payback. Somehow even though he was declining before the baby had much understanding, somehow Bacon taught him to be just like him. Crazy that inspiration can come from the oddest of places, and my kids all teach me different things, but Zeek definitely taught me how to slow down in this life and take nothing for granted. The Lord gave me a personal prophet to look up to which ultimately led me back to my roots of seeking God, and if God can bring me back to salvation from where I was and what I was doing, then He can do this for anyone.
