It is with a mix of sadness and joyful remembrance that we announce the passing of Jack Charles Taylor, who departed this life on March 9, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on January 1, 1932, in Springfield, Missouri, Jack was a man of great character and even greater stories, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Jack proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, enlisting on January 3, 1949, and he honorably discharged on October 1, 1952. After his military service, he dedicated his career to the community, becoming a well-respected store manager at Walgreens. Yet, beyond his time behind the counter, he took on the challenge and camaraderie of being a lineman, putting up electrical lines until his retirement. His work ethic and commitment to serving others were just part of what made him who he was.
He was united in marriage to Carol Taylor on October 26, 1973, in Tennessee. They spent many wonderful years full of adventures till her passing December of 2019.
Known for his love of life, Jack was an avid bowler who continued to knock down pins well into his 88th year. He enjoyed every moment spent on the golf course, fishing on quiet afternoons, and hunting with friends. Jack cherished his time on his five-acre farm in Fair Grove, where he found peace and joy in the simplicity of life.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Juanita (Hardison) Taylor; his wife, Carol Taylor; his daughter, Christine Seay; and three brothers Gene Taylor, Bob Taylor, and Bill Taylor.
Jack’s spirit will be carried on by his beloved sons and their wives, Mike and Danielle Taylor, and Steve and Benny Taylor, and son-in-law Roy Seay who will forever remember their father as a source of wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
The celebration of Jack’s life will take place at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on March 14, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to join us in honoring the man who lived fully and loved deeply. Following the service, Jack will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
Join us as we remember Jack Charles Taylor, a true gentleman, a devoted father, and a friend to all. His stories will live on in our hearts, and his legacy will inspire generations to come.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home, North.
