James Dean Mayer, born on April 22, 1984, in Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on December 12, 2024, at the age of 40. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Katey Mayer, and a beloved son to Michael James Patten, and devout American Solder.
After completing his education at Monett R-I School District. James Dean became a proud soldier of the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of E06. He exemplified the qualities of an American hero, serving his country with honor and dedication for 6 years and 9 months. He furthered his studies at Crowder College in Neosho and attended the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando, Florida.
As a talented lawncare entrepreneur for Lawnscapes, James Dean was known for his strong work ethic and deep passion for his craft. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, drawing, and watching hockey and baseball. He had a particular love for heavy metal music, which was a significant part of his life.
James and Katey were united in marriage on September 21, 2021, at Nathanael Greene Park in Springfield, Missouri, where they created precious memories together.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Monett, Missouri when he was younger. James Dean was also a part of the Masons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael James Patten; his son, Anthony Lee Hayes; and grandfather, Cecil H. Mayer.
James is survived by his loving wife, Katey; and his brother, Brandon Lemmons; the fellow soldiers whom he considered an absolute honor to serve with, as well as very special bonus parents, George and Anita Mayer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held in honor of James on December 27, 2024, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, beginning at 11:00 AM. Following the funeral, James will be laid to rest at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in James’s name to a charity of your choice. His legacy of love, dedication, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
