James “Jim” Edward Marshall, age 82, of Springfield, MO, passed away on 3/5/25, at the Mount Vernon Veterans Home after living with Alzhiemer’s. Jim was born to Arthur Marshall and Marilla Feary on 11/19/42, in Torrance, California. He was raised in Indio, California. Jim was united in marriage to Eva Wright on 1/3/81 in Lebanon, Missouri. Jim and Eva shared 44 years of marriage. Jim proudly served in the United States Navy Reserves for many years, beginning when he was in high school. He was active in the Navy as a Veteran of the Vietnam War between 1964 and 1966.
Jim worked as an accountant for much of his career and earned his MBA. He was employed as an accountant with Detroit Tool for 25 years. Over the course of his career Jim held other jobs including selling real estate. Jim was a dedicated, hard worker. When not working, he had many interests and pastimes including drafting architectural sketches, watching movies, hunting and fishing, and cooking. Jim was known for his annual turkey soup after Thanksgiving and he always dreamed of having his own small restaurant. He also enjoyed the travels he had as part of his Navy Reserves experience as a Sea Bee. Jim was also a long time member of the Lebanon and Springfield Lions Clubs. He thoroughly enjoyed his participation with the Lions and the mission of the compassionate work of the Club. More recently, Jim volunteered as a Reading Buddy to ignite a passion for reading with young kids.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Arthur (1981), his mother Marilla (1983), his sister JoAnne Bowen (2022) and his brother John Marshall (2023). He is survived by his loving wife Eva, and his children from his first marriage: daughter Kristal Marshall-Shore (Helen “Lellie”) and son Keith Marshall (Pily); and his stepchildren Betty Brower, Tom Wright, and Linda Miller. He is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, 3/10/25, at 4:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Jim Marshall’s memory to the Lions Club of Lebanon, Missouri.
