James (Honeyboy) Louis Johnson Sr. 88 of Springfield Missouri passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield Missouri. He was born June 28, 1934, in Imboden Arkansas to Robert and Maud (Hardin) Johnson. In 1957 he married Odessa (Rollins) Johnson, whom he refers to as “DOLL”.

James spent 42 years as a mechanic at Vincel Buick where he retired, in which he made an abundance of friends. He enjoyed life by spending time with his family, friends, working on cars, smoking his pipe/cigar, most of all sitting under the tree with his cousin and best friend Tommy Lee Johnson.

Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers: Marvin, Cecil, Robert, Jack and Joe; three sisters Luttie Mae Johnson, Drucilla Oaks and Mary Francis Herron; favorite cousin Tommy Lee Johnson.

Survivors include wife Odessa of Springfield Missouri, six sons, Johnnie Rollins, Sylvester Rollins, James Jr. (Zelda) Johnson, Charles Johnson, Larry (Latiqua) Johnson, of Springfield Missouri, Joele (Virginia) Johnson of St. Paul Minnesota, daughter Janice (Bernard) McDonald of Springfield Missouri, sister Sue Agnes Young of Birdell Arkansas, twenty-one grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, August 19, 2022, 5:00pm-7:00pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North location
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 20, 2022, 1:00 pm at East Grand Church of Christ with burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
