We are sad to share that James “Jim” Edward Godat, a proud resident of Humansville, MO, passed away due to an accident on June 12, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Springfield, MO. Born on September 6, 1950, in Doniphan, MO, he lived a fulfilling life surrounded by his loved ones.

James, known by many as an independent and hardworking man, was the proud owner operator truck driver. His dedication and commitment to his work were unmatched, earning him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

James was preceded in death by his parents Edward William and Grace Violet (Denny) Godat; three sisters: Joann Walls, Eunice Hiedeman, and Mauren Bartlett; a brother in-law Loren Freeze; and a nephew James “Ed” Edward Taylor.

He leaves behind his beloved spouse, Peggy Godat, and their three children: Tracey Godat, Melanie Godat and fiancée Timothy Mynatt, and Aaron Godat and wife Laura; 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter, who were the light of his life; one sister Carolyn Freeze; as well several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The impact James made on his family and community will forever be cherished and remembered.

In honor of his life, a graveside service and celebration of James’ time with us will be held at the Akard Cemetery Fair Play, MO, Monday, June 17, 2024, at 10:00 am.
