James “Jim” Roy Robertson, age 86, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away at Mercy Hospital on August 21, 2024. Jim was born to Earl and Edna (Linder) on July 29, 1938, in Springfield. He was raised in Springfield and attended Central High School. Jim married the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Brott, on October 24, 1958. The couple remained married for nearly 40 years before Judy’s untimely passing on September 18, 1995. Jim and Judy were blessed with one son, Randy.
For more than 35 years, Jim worked as a City Utilities bus driver. During that time, he provided daily transportation services for thousands of residents in the Springfield area, many of whom knew Jim by his first name. He took great pride in his job, his safety record, and the friendships he developed with his riders. Jim was also a proud American who served our nation for seven years in the Army National Guard. When not working, Jim loved to work on cars and restore them to their original beauty. He was especially fond of his 1955 Chevy. Jim will be remembered as a hard working man who was always kind, helpful, and generous.
A graveside service for Jim will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 3:00 pm, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Judy. Jim will be deeply missed by many people including his son, his siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, former coworkers, and innumerable friends.
