James Glennon “Jimmy” Shanks was born on May 5, 1960 in Springfield, Missouri. He was suddenly taken from us on Sunday, July 31, 2022. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1978, and was a 42 year member of IBEW Local 453. Jimmy loved all sports especially co-ed softball with his siblings and men’s softball with family and friends. He was also an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a huge music fan and had a very creative sense of humor. He always told people, “I am one funny MFer.” and he was.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Laddie and Mary Shanks, one brother, David Shanks, three sisters, Ellen Brayfield, Becky Fullerton and Sandi Drake, a very special nephew, Davy Fullerton, and two nephews, Travis Shanks and Cole Iorg. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Becky Shanks, one son, Laddie B. Shanks, two daughters, Celessa Shanks and Jocelyn Shanks, three brothers, Bennett Shanks, Pat Shanks and Mike Shanks, four sisters, Bobbi Jameson, Carmen Bein, Terri Shanks and Scotti Inmon (Gene), a very close niece, Debbie Hill, his mother-in-law, Janet Weeks, and his two “furry sons”, Scamper and Roger as well as an abundance of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jimmy was the baby of 12 children.
His memorial service is at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2022, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, Missouri.
