James “Jim” Haynes, age 71, passed away on March 13th, 2023. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to James and Vera (Topping) Haynes in October of 1951, Jim would finish his schooling in Springfield, MO, graduating with the class of 1969 at Hillcrest High School. He attended Crowder University and Missouri State University (at the time SMS) and was with the Army Reserves for 7 years. Jim would marry Joyce “Jolene” (Evans) August 28th, 1971. Together, they would spend 51 years of marriage and have two children: a daughter, Stacy Haynes, and son, Jason Haynes. Jim was an electrician with the BN Railroad and Praxair, and American Welding until he retired in 2016. In his free time, Jim loved hunting and fishing, bonfires, and drinking beer.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jolene, and his children Stacy and Jason, 2 grandchildren; Ethan and Aubrey Haynes, his brother; Johnny (wife Susan), his sister; Debbie Heatherly, and 2 nieces and 1 nephew; Chris Pope, Andrea Popovits, and Eric Johnson.
A visitation for Jim will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Sunday, March 19th, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. At 3 p.m. Reverend Steve Thomas will say a few words.
