James (Jim) Marvin Scoggins was born June 22, 1937, and on July 14, 2021, left his earthly home and entered his heavenly home to be with his Lord Jesus. Jim accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at Water Tower Baptist Church, and at the age of 10, was baptized on Easter Sunday evening in 1947. His desire was to serve the Lord in any way he was asked, and he served as Deacon and Chairman of Deacons in several churches where he was a member. He was always willing to help anyone in any way he could and always strived to lead others to know Jesus as their Savior. Jim was married on June 23, 1956, to Marilyn Darlene Smith at Water Tower Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri. God blessed them with four children. After graduating from Beaumont High School in St. Louis, Missouri, Jim went into the Army and was honorably discharged after seven years in the Army Reserves. He also worked in retail clothing at Sobel’s Department Store for 36 years before retiring and eventually fulfilling his lifelong dream of living on Table Rock Lake for 21 years. He and Marilyn moved to Strafford, Missouri in August 2016. Jim was preceded in death by his parents James and Nina Scoggins, his daughter Victoria Scoggins Siboda, his brothers Robert and Larry Scoggins, and sister Hilda Lamb.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marilyn; two daughters Caron Mainer and husband Mike, Kimberly Dillon and husband Mike, and one son James Scoggins and wife Glenda; ten grandchildren, David (Angie) Siboda, Eric (Katie) Siboda, Jeremy (Sherri) Goettel, Christopher Goettel, Garrett (Marissa) Mainer, Emily Mainer, Amanda Dillon, Jennifer Dillon, Ashley (Kyle) Lacy, Brooke Scoggins and 16 great grandchildren.
Jim and Marilyn have been very active volunteering at events to benefit the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home and therefore, if desired, memorials can be made to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home, 11300 St. Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton, Missouri 63044-2793; or the charity of your choice.
