James Ray Sonnier was born September 16, 1955 in Opelousas, Louisiana.  His father‘s name was John Sonnier. His mother‘s name was Ethel St Amand.  Ray passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 in Springfield, Missouri. Ray leaves behind a wife Barb of 34 years and a son Brian Sonnier and a daughter Jill Artigue and husband Albert.   He also leaves behind brothers, Chris Sonnier, J L Sonnier, sisters, Lynn Meche, and Carol Arnaud, grandsons Jayden Price, Ryan Sonnier, Jacob Jones, Curtis Sonnier, and granddaughter Lyla.  There are many nieces and nephews and cousins too many to count. He also has a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jeanette and Erling Snorrason.

For Rays career, he was chief pharmacist at the VA clinic in Springfield, Missouri.  He got his doctor Pharmacy degree at LSU Monroe in Louisiana.  He worked for the government for 35 years.  He loved to fish and hunt.  He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be very much missed.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Manley Cemetery.
