James (Jim) Victor Hubert, 79, Of Ozark, Missouri passed away Monday, March 20th, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
Jim was born August 24, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. A graduate of Solon High School, he received a Bachelor of Arts from Central Bible College and a Master of Arts in Sports Science from Ashland University. He served in Church ministry, Assemblies of God, for 15 years, taught in public schools for 22 years and served as a substitute teacher for an additional 17 years.
Jim loved sports, playing Basketball and Golf, he also ran track and was an active rock climber until the age of 76. He coached basketball at both High School and College level. and took great joy in attending his grandchildren’s events and activities.
Jim married Janice (Jan) Louise Van Emon on July 18, 1964. He is survived by Jan, sisters Carol Eberly and Gayle (Steve) Meiling; daughters, Ginger (Monte) Bowers and Heidi (Rex) Stephens; grandchildren Dallas (Emeleen) Spencer, Josie (Joshua) Cox, Abby Spencer, Mitchell Stephens, Macie Stephens; step-grandchildren Erik, Lauren and Tessa Bowers and great-grandson Donald Wayne Spencer; along with 23 nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Victor Hubert; mother, Esther Hubert; brother-in-law Tim Eberly; and son-in-law, Donald Spencer.
Jim loved to have fun and spend time with family and friends. He took joy in traveling across the U.S. to experience his grandchildren’s college campuses and see their accomplishments in sport, art and anything they were passionate about. He was quick with a story and never knew a stranger. He was praising and thanking Jesus to the very end of his life. His light and his spark will be deeply missed.
