It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Janice Sue Herren, age 77, on August 14, 2025. Born on February 14, 1948, in Springfield, Missouri, to William Lawrence and Dorothy Sue (Peterson) Grant, Janice was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend who left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Janice grew up in Springfield, where she eventually graduated from high school and dove into her career as a clerk in the retail loans industry. Anyone who knew Janice knew her kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand. Whether it was sharing a laugh or providing a listening ear, she had a magical way of making everyone feel special.
She is survived by her loving son, Darrin Comfort of Fredericksburg, VA; a grandson Brandon Comfort of VA; a great granddaughter Kaylee Byrge of TN; two sisters: Joyce Resh of ID, and Judy Grant of WV; as well as several other relatives and friends. Janice will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
According to Janice’s wishes her body will be cremated. In honor of Janice’s life, a memorial service will be held at a later date, where we will gather to celebrate her remarkable journey.
