Janis Kay Lawrence, 73,  Springfield, MO. passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021. She was born on June 5, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas to LaMonte and Jacquetta (Faulkner) Filby. She was raised in Kansas City, MO. and moved to Springfield, MO. after having her first child. She attended Park Hill High School in Kansas City, MO. She loved all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved watching movies and painting in her younger days, and she also loved to color.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Vicki, two step-sons: Randall and Wayne Baker and her step-daughter: Mickey Baker. She is survived by her children: Lonna Baker (Tracy Russell) and Jeff Baker (Amy Jones), her step-daughter: Teri (Baker) Hathaway, five grandchildren: Cody Baker, Dallas Hanika, Kylie Baker, Makayla Kurek, and Macy Baker, five great-grandchildren: Addilyn Baker, Lyla Baker, Hendrix and Hollynd Cline, Kenyen Hanika and with a Baker on the way. She is also survived by her two nieces: Tara Kincade and Angela McCoy and her Great Aunt: Susan Kay.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with visitation one hour before services, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Baxter Springs, Kansas cemetery.
