It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerald Burkhart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life on April 29, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in Clinton, MO. on October 7, 1940, to Frank and Nelle (Parker) Burkhart. Jerald lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and love for his family, all of whom will carry his memories close to their hearts. He was a retired Insurance Agent for American Family Insurance Company, where he helped many people with their insurance needs. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and he was a Shriner. When he wasn’t busy at the insurance company, he loved the great outdoors, including shooting squirrels, fishing, and gigging frogs. He was a member of the Missouri Trout Fishing Association, He was also a member of The Shriners Dad’s Club who drove patients to the Shriners Hospital and The Sunrise Optimist Club
Jerald is survived by his cherished wife, Bonnie Burkhart, whose unwavering support and love were the cornerstones of his life. He was a proud father to his daughter, Cindy Love, and a dedicated brother-in-law to Carl Wilson and his sister, Caroline Kay Ray. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Trevor Love, Ben Love, and Samantha Montgomery, and her husband Johnny along with his great-grandchildren Norah Love, Luxi Montgomery, Arya Love, and Lilly Montgomery, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
His warmth and wisdom touched the lives of many, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service to honor Jerald’s life will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM. at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to gather to reflect on the remarkable life he led and to share in the stories that celebrate his loving spirit.
