Jerry Lee Chaney, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on March 30, 1932, in Branson, Missouri, and lived a long, full life marked by curiosity, hard work, and deep devotion to his family.
Jerry graduated from the University of Arkansas before proudly serving in the United States Army in the mid 1950’s. Stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany, he managed the motor pool and used every free moment exploring Europe—an experience that sparked a lifelong love of travel and adventure.
In 1958, Jerry married Juliet Cunningham, and together they welcomed two children, Mike and Karen. Later in life, in 1982, he married Franceska “Francie” Fairbanks, and the two blended their families.
Jerry and Francie shared a deep love of travel, taking memorable trips around the world, spending many cherished weekends on their boat, Elegant Sufficiency, on Table Rock Lake, and wintering together in Florida.
Jerry built a successful career as the owner and operator of Chaney-Holman Propane. A man of many talents, he was also a gifted artist who enjoyed drawing and designed many of the homes he built over the years. He held a pilot’s license for much of his life and cherished the freedom of flying. A natural storyteller, Jerry authored a book honoring his grandfather, George Albright. Whether playing golf, sharing stories, or gathering with family and friends, he brought warmth, humor, and enthusiasm to every moment.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Francie Chaney; his children, Mike Chaney and Karen Chaney; his stepchildren, Matt Schaberg and Kathy Engler; and his five grandsons: Carter, Schae, and Will Engler, and Connor, and Logan Peak. He is also remembered fondly by many friends and loved ones who will feel his loss deeply.
Jerry lived with generosity, curiosity, and joy. His legacy endures in the stories he told, the homes he created, the skies he flew, and the many people who loved him.
No formal services are planned at this time.
