Today, we gather here to bid farewell to a remarkable man, Jerry Potter. As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the profound impact he had on those around him. Jerry’s journey on this earth may have come to an end, but his legacy will forever live on in our hearts.

Jerry lived a life that was filled with love, devotion, and unwavering faith. He was a man of great character, integrity, and kindness. His commitment to his family, friends, country, and beliefs was truly inspiring.

Jerry’s love story with his wife Glenda spanned an incredible 67 years, a testament to the strength of their bond and the depth of their love. Together, they weathered the storms of life, cherishing each other through thick and thin.

In his younger years, Jerry served our country with honor and distinction in the navy for three years. He selflessly dedicated himself to protecting the freedoms we hold dear, and we are forever grateful for his service. Jerry’s patriotism and love for his country were evident in everything he did.

Beyond his military service, Jerry was a man that found something he was good at and continued to do it.  A good example is his dedication to working 45 years in the meat market industry, running/walking over 10,000 miles, plus qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

Jerry had a passion for speed and adventure. He found solace and joy in the world of custom hotrods and motorcycles. The thrill of the open road, the wind in his hair, and the roar of the engine brought him immense happiness.

Jerry’s competitive spirit led him to participate in numerous running road races, where he often emerged victorious or placed among the top contenders. His determination and drive were truly remarkable.

But above all else, Jerry was a loving father. His children Jerry, Steven and Scott were his pride and joy, and he considered himself lucky and honored to be their dad. He instilled in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion. Jerry’s unwavering support and guidance shaped their lives, and his legacy will continue to guide them in the years to come.

For Jerry’s friends, whether you were a customer, co-worker, high school buddy or a friend from church. You were loved by him.  Hopefully you got to enjoy his sense of humor and quick wit.  You could always count on him for a joke or friendly razzing to make you smile.

Jerry’s faith in God was the cornerstone of his life. He lived his days with a deep sense of gratitude and humility, always seeking to do what was right. His unwavering faith provided him with strength during the darkest of times and allowed him to find joy in the simplest of moments. Jerry’s devotion to God was evident in the way he treated others, always extending a helping hand and offering words of encouragement.

Today, as we say our final goodbyes to Jerry, let us remember the incredible man he was. Let us honor his memory by living our lives with the same love, devotion, and faith that he exemplified. Jerry Potter may no longer be with us in body, but his spirit will forever guide and inspire us.

Rest in peace, dear Jerry. You have left an indelible mark on our lives, and we are eternally grateful for the privilege of calling you our friend, husband, father, and role model. May your soul find eternal peace in the embrace of God’s love.
