Jillisa Reane Ridge-Serls, 54, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and compassion for all creatures great and small. Born on January 31, 1971, in Marshalltown, Iowa, Jillisa was known for her quick wit, sarcastic humor, and unwavering devotion to her family and furry companions.
She shared her life with her beloved husband, Dennis Serls, and was a proud mother to TJ Ridge and daughter-in-law Whitney Ridge. She also cherished her three stepsons: Despenn, Jayden, and Peytenn Serls. Jillisa’s home was always filled with warmth, creativity, and the joyful chaos of pets that she adored and cared for as family.
A lifelong Denver Broncos fan and avid crafter, Jillisa found joy in the little things: a well-timed joke, a handmade gift, and the unconditional love of animals. Her passion for animal welfare was unmatched, and she dedicated herself to rescuing, nurturing, and advocating for pets in need.
Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 17, 2025, at Pitts Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home, 316 E. Broadway St., in Bolivar. While no formal service will be held at this time, her spirit lives on in every rescued paw print and every act of kindness toward animals.
In honor of Jillisa’s love for animals, the family suggests memorials be made in her name to the Bolivar Humane Society, Rescue One, or to Watching Over Whiskers.
Jillisa’s laughter, loyalty, and love will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
