Jim Keith Morris, 80, of Springfield, MO passed away January 21, 2025 in his home.
Jim was born July 1, 1944 in Springfield, MO to Mack and Luisia (McCormick) Morris. He graduated from Rogersville High School in 1963. After graduation he served his country in the United States Army. After his military service he went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad-Hostler where he retired as a brake man in March of 2007 after 34 years.
Jim married LaDonna Boyer September 19, 1981 in Springfield, MO.
His passions were his grandchildren, baseball and softball. He managed girls softball and took his team to the nationals in 1989. He loved watching his grandchildren and family members grow up around him. he enjoyed umpireing games, protecting childrens cross walks and being security for sorority parties and the party bus. He also enjoyed watching westerns, going to the casinos with his friends and going to dinner with his sister and niece.He would always do anything he could for his loved ones. He had many dogs over the years but Brandi was his favorite.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Goldie Morris, Hubert Swearengin, Emily and Callie Batemen.
Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years LaDonna; children Jim and Debbie Morris, Cheri and Steven Queen; step-children, Clayton and Shannon Boyer and Christopher Boyer. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Taylor Boyer, Matthew Morris, Keely Queen (Mathe Miller), Shelby Boyer and Samantha Morris; sister Pearl Swearengin; nieces and nephews Michael Morris, Doug Morris, Cindy Miller, Steve Swearengin; great nephews, Shane Morris and David Morris; other friends and family Carl Wallace, Eric Johnson, Don Dilley and John Erb.
A memorial visitation for Jim will be from 12:30 to 2:30 pm Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Interment with full military honors will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery 5201 South Southwood Springfield, MO.
