Joanne Cruse, age 89, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on October 4, 2025.
Joanne was born on October 18, 1935, in Marshall, Missouri, to Wilbur and Sybil Allen. She spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, raising her family on a dairy farm. Joanne cherished the simple joys in life; fishing, going to auctions with her husband, spending time with her family, and the occasional trip to try her luck at the slot machines.
On December 1, 1975, Joanne married the love of her life, James “Junior” Cruse. They shared many happy years together before his passing on April 21, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Brenda Cruse.
Joanne is survived by her children: Patricia Payne (William Martinez), Terry Thompson (Denny Thompson), and Robert Jones; and by her stepchildren: Nancy Stevens (Rod Stevens) and Tammy Weatherford.
She also leaves behind a loving legacy through her grandchildren: Mike and Carrie Payne, Bruce and Debbie Payne, and Joe Thompson; her great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Jordan Payne, Josh Payne, Austin and Skye Payne, Garrett and Tess Payne, Ashley, Abby, and Alley; and her great-great-grandchildren: Malachi Payne, Ember Payne, Evelynn Payne, and Lora Payne.
Joanne will be remembered for her strength, her kind heart, and the deep love she had for her family. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
