John Cecil Riggs, 77, of Springfield, passed away May 24, 2021. He was born on January 29, 1944 to Cecil and Laura Riggs in Kansas City, KS.
After graduating from High School in Omaha, NE he went on to marry Dianne (Dinah) Scheele. They were Mister Donut/Dunkin Donut franchisee owners in the Springfield/Branson area for 28 years. After retirement he drove a school bus for Springfield Public Schools until 2011. John lived life to the fullest and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had a huge devotion to restoring and driving street rods and spent the summers traveling around participating in car shows and won many awards.
He is survived by his children John (Jenn) Riggs, Jennifer (Chris) Westhoff and four grandchildren: Jacob, Kylie, Peyton and Isabelle.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5pm to 7pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield, MO. Graveside services will be at 11:30am on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Parkinson’s Group of the Ozarks, www.parkinsonsgroup.org.
